Ten Christian Books To Read
My Thought on Different Books
Now I am not much for romance novels. They just put too dreamy of thoughts in my mind, and I think why read it if it won't help me or make me grow in anything anyways. But that's just my opinion everyone is different. I also choose not to read books on wizards and witches from the passages in the Bible from Exodus 22:18, Leviticus 19:31, and Galatians 5:19-20. I try to stay focused with my books with one thing, God. I feel like reading books written by older women help me grow in wisdom as God says so many times in the Bible Proverbs 12:15, Titus 2:3-5.
My Favorite Books
The first book I would recommend is "Preparing To Be A Helpmeet" by Debi Pearl. Debi Pearl is a great writer and gets her point across well. At first her books can be a little hard to understand and make you feel pushed to be a certain way, but if you take a little bit in at a time to absorb it, it actually really helps you in life. She makes great points and you can clearly see she is being directed by the Holy Spirit. One of my favorite chapters in her book is "Cinderella". There she tells a true story of this girl meeting her prince charming. They waited for each other to share their first time meeting their parents together, their first time going to church with a mate, and even their first time saying I love you to a special someone. Overall this book has helped me understand men a lot better.
My second favorite book is "Before You Meet Prince Charming" By Sarah Mally. Sarah Mally reminds us in this book, life is not all about finding a spouse, it's much more than that, it's leading people to the Lord, growing in our faith with God, helping and serving people. Then at God's perfect time he will bring the perfect guy into your life. She has encouraged me a lot to not spend my youth waiting for the perfect guy, but to use my gifts for the glory of God while I can, and all my time can go to God right now, but once your married all of your energy goes to your husband and children.1 Corinthians 7:34.
Third would probably be "Beautiful Girlhood" By Karen Andreola. Although I wish I would have found this book when I was in my tween years, it still helps a lot now. It encourages me that feeling mood changes is normal, to not want to play with toys anymore is normal too and even to feel the need for change, but through the book she encourages us to take everything to the Lord when we don't feel normal. When we are having struggles, take it to the Lord. My favorite chapter is probably the one that encourages us to have a happy heart and it will make others happy like the Bible says in Proverbs 17:22, "A merry heart doeth good like medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones".
The forth favorite book of mine is "Questions and Answers from the Bible" By Les Feldick. Les Fedlick will take you on a journey of the Bible through his amazing book giving you a more clear understanding of subjects that are not usally spoken about in Bible teachings in this present day. Les Feldick has to be my favorite teacher of all time. He is right on most everything in the Bible. The Holy Spirit clearly opens up his eyes to stuff most people on the milk of the word can't see. He has been my most encouraging writer and teacher to grow in the word and understand it better.
Coming in at the fifth is "Growing Up Duggar" by the Duggar Girls. This book is all about relationships. It goes into detail about what each relationship look like. In this book you will find ways to have a good lasting relationship with your siblings and parents, friends, God, and to not just focus on finding a mate in your teen years, but to instead take this time to focus on your family and relationships.
My Sixth favorite book is "For Young Women Only" by Shaunti Feldhahn and Lisa A. Rice. This book helps you see into the inner lives of men. It encourages you to dress modest by seeing what is really going on in guys mind and how much of a struggle it is that we as girls do not realize. It also shows how God wired them in a cool way. This book is a good book to see how guys relate to things and how to help them.
My seventh favorite book is "What On Earth Is God Doing" by Renald E. Showers. This book goes into great detail on how Satan and God are always fighting a war and how the Jews have to suffer because of Satan knowing they are Gods chosen people. He goes on to explain, that in the end God will come on top and win over, and rule over the world and Israel again. It is a very interesting book to look into how Satan and God are always against each other and having a war in the higher powers.
Coming in at the eighth is "Jewish Culture And Customs" by Steve Herzig. Steve Herzig is a Jew who became a Christian when he was 18. He goes into detail in his book on what growing up as an Orthodox Jew is like and how their holidays and customs are and relate to the Bible. It's pretty fascinating to learn how all of their holidays have to do with the Bible.
My ninth favorite book is "Which Gospel When" by Paul R. Van Gorder. This book goes into detail on how there are different gospels in different parts of time in the Bible, but all the gospels are miraculously still related together to one thing, faith in our God. If you have ever wondered why in John they talk about the kingdom for salvation and then in Paul's epistles the gospel of grace this is the book for you.
My last favorite book is "A Girls Guide To Making Really Good Choices" by Elizabeth George. I wish I could have found this one when I was about 9 years old, but it still helps now. This book tells how when we are around the teenage years we have to start making choices... sometimes big choices and it's up to us to decide to make the right choice or wrong choice. She encourages us to stay on the right track, pray about our choices, and read our Bible so when the time comes you can know you are in God's will when making tough decisions.
That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed this blog on some of my favorite books. Hopefully this helps you find some books to help you grow in the Lord.
